Châtel is a hidden gem in the French alps, with a traditional and charming feel, as it's origins came from farming and wood logging.
Abondance is the local cheese, which is a delicious hard cheese, and can be found in it's local dish - Berthoud. Within the Haute Savoie region, you will also find other mountain classics such as fondue, tartiflette and raclette, so, you are sure to find some tasty fuel after your day on the slopes.
Châtel has excellent snow conditions, especially in comparison to other resorts at a similar altitude. Every season the lifts open early in December and close at the end of April.
As a snow sure resort the reputation of Châtel keeps growing and growing, specially from neighbouring resorts of similar altitude when they are barren, Châtel always has plenty.

There's also another 520 kilometres of slopes linked to Chatel in the Portes du Soliel, which spans France and Switzerland... This is only the marked runs!
The Smooth Park is located in Super Chatel and has super flowy variety of lines. Enjoy everything, from boxes, to rails to jumps, on a top to bottom descent for every snowboarder. Plus, there's also a snowboard cross course at the side for speedsters!
It's also only a 3 lift journey to Avoriaz, the centre of the Portes du Soliel, where you will find the Burton Stash, a terrain park with natural jibbing elements, plus and other fun snow parks.
Depending on what you want from the evening and night, there is plenty for everyone.
